About This Site
The Houston Relief Resource Hub is an independent community information resource focused on disaster preparedness, severe weather, and civic resilience in Greater Houston. The project began in the late 2010s, in the period when Hurricane Harvey and the recovery that followed it reshaped how many Houston households thought about emergency readiness. It has continued in the years since, with periodic updates to reflect new guidance from the National Weather Service, the City of Houston Office of Emergency Management, Harris County, and other agencies and organizations that lead the regional response system.
The site exists to make basic, accurate information about Houston-area hazards easier to find. We are not a government agency, a service provider, or a fundraising organization. We do not offer emergency assistance, legal advice, or insurance guidance. We summarize publicly available information from authoritative sources and point readers to those sources for anything time-sensitive or decision-critical.
The pages here cover hurricane preparedness, flooding, severe weather road conditions, extreme heat, winter storms, and the agencies and community organizations that support Greater Houston before, during, and after disasters. The content is written in plain language and kept short enough to read in a single sitting. For anything requiring real-time information — a watch, a warning, an evacuation order, an active road closure — consult the National Weather Service Houston-Galveston office, ReadyHarris.org, or the City of Houston OEM directly.
